Evaluate your Position

In a society where everyone has a position, no matter how small or how large, it is important to evaluate your position. When I refer to positions, I not only speak about paid positions, but also life positions. Who you are and what you represent is your position. We have all heard the phrase “stay in your lane.” Well sometimes people have trouble doing so.

Let’s take for instance, you are a part of a group or organization and you have been appointed to be over a certain committee. Well instead of handling that particular committee you are busy worrying about the work of the other committee. Well…evaluate your position. Ask yourself what were you appointed to do and are you doing that.

Another example would be you are hired for a job. Of course the job description will outline your responsibilities. It is sometimes okay to go above and beyond your responsibilities but evaluate your position and make sure you are doing what you are required to do before you begin to step into the wrong lane and attempt to do the job of someone else.

Often times people over step their boundaries and this leads to problems. So as the 2018 year comes to a close, remember to evaluate your position and stay in your lane. Your time is coming!! See you in 2019!
