Often times people ask me how do I balance my busy life. Sometimes I wonder the same thing. Family, work, and play are all important. I was recently talking to another educational professional and realized that for the first time since age 5, I am no longer enrolled in school! 😂 Yes, quite comical but so true! A high school diploma and 6 degrees later I can finally say I’m finished with school. I think my greatest challenges came with balancing school work and every other component in my life. Regardless I managed to make it work.
So how do I balance? I balance simply by knowing these are things either that I have to do or that I enjoy so I make time for them. My son is now 13 years old and has become so independent. I still make sure we talk and spend quality time together. My family is important to me and so communication and visits with them are essential, especially my parents. I love sports and travel so I have to ensure that I make time for those as well. I work a second job not because I have to but because I choose to and that makes it more enjoyable and easier to balance. My schedule may appear crazy to some, but it works for me. I am so accustomed to having a busy schedule that when things are removed, I still find myself adding something in its place. So when balancing your life, evaluate the things you have to do, but also include the things that you want to do. A life full of have tos with no want tos is an unbalanced life. Find time for play just as you do for work.
