Ever wondered why you have to work harder than others to get the same respect? Ever wonder why your extraordinary work goes unnoticed while their mediocre performance gets praise? I was having this conversation with someone who felt they were working extremely hard and performing above average, yet still was often overlooked, while others in the same field were getting praised and had not performed or achieved any where close to their level. The truth of the matter is, some people have to be extraordinary while others can be mediocre. It’s the nature of the beast and so unfortunate. The playing field may be the same, but the scoring may be quite different.
What do you do? It is all about what your goals are. Do you need someone else’s praise to prosper? No one should be allowed to hinder your progress toward success. Do not stop working hard! Keep striving! There is someone out there looking who recognizes your talent. Some people just have entitlement that others may not have. Do not let your extraordinary become mediocre because you are not them and should not want to be. You were not born to be mediocre. Do not be afraid or ashamed to be different. Be more afraid of being the same. Your extraordinary is for you and that’s all that matters.
