People often wonder how to be an effective leader and what does it take to be successful. Being an effective leader also requires you to be a follower. I know we have heard many times, be a leader, not a follower. To me that requires my explanation. There is nothing wrong with following as long as you are able to make good decisions on your own. Maybe we should say don’t let the negative ways of others lead us down the wrong path. To me being a follower is about taking the time to listen to others and take into considerations their feelings and suggestions. I don’t necessarily see following as being negative. Follow those that you empower to lead through your leadership.
